Pakistan 1st Consumers IT & Telecom Conference on 23rd Jan

KARACHI -- 1st Consumers IT & Telecom Conference will be held on 23rd January 2014 at Marriott Hotel Islamabad organized by Consumers Association of Pakistan.

Anusha Rehman Ahmed Khan, Minister of State for IT & Telecom Government of Pakistan will be the Chief Guest whereas Federal Secretary IT & Telecom Akhlaq Ahmed Tarar, Dr. Ismail Shah Chairman Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA), Dr. Joseph Wilson Chairman Competition Commission of Pakistan, Faisal Sattar CEO Universal Services Fund (USF), Khalid Mahmood CEO and Country Manager First Global Data Pakistan, Syed Tahir Rizvi Regional Head Asia Pacific – One Apple Pakistan, Fan Yun Jun CEO China Mobile Pakistan, Syed Iqtedar Zaidi President and Chief Executive Techaccess Pakistan, and Karim Peerani General Manager Soft World International will be the Guests of Honor.

On this occasion Chairman Consumers Association of Pakistan, Kaukab Iqbal while briefing the press in CAP office about the conference told that the conference will be held to create awareness among masses regarding IT & Telecom sector.

He added that number of subscribers in telecom sector has reached approximately up to 130 million whereas internet users are about 30 million in Pakistan. Recently mobile banking has also been introduced which has made a tremendous leap in the development of banking sector.

According to Kaukab Iqbal if appropriate emphasis is given to IT & Telecom sector, opportunities to earn foreign exchange for the country will be maximized whereas job opportunities for our youth will also be accelerated. He added, despite the fact that the number of consumers in telecom sector is increasing day by day but consumers are still unaware about their rights. On continuous pursuance of Consumers Association of Pakistan a complaint cell has been established and is working for redressal of grievances of consumers in the Directorate of PTA.

He said that we should work hard to promote IT and telecom sector so that computers and laptops can be available in the country to our consumers at affordable prices.
