Samsung Electronics Launches Business Core™ Printing Solutions

Business Core Printing Solutions enable small and medium sized businesses

to increase efficiency through integrated printing technology

Karachi: October 31, 2013 – Samsung Electronics today announced the launch of its Business Core Printing Solutions for small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) to increase workplace efficiency through easy-to-use, serverless printing. Business Core Printing Solutions enable SMBs to meet their specific document handling, output management and print accounting needs, while delivering robust security, maximizing productivity and minimizing expenditures.

“Our Business Core Printing Solutions were developed in collaboration with Samsung Global Software Centers in the U.S., India, Korea, and Russia, specifically to support SMBs. The solutions are perfectly suited for the finance, communications, public sector and manufacturing industries where there is high demand for productivity and security,” said Joosang Eun, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Samsung Electronics. “We first launched our A3 multifunction printers for the SMB market in 2012 and our latest solutions will further enhance the ability of SMBs to streamline operations, drive greater efficiencies, and lower total cost of ownership.”

SMBs currently account for the highest share of the printing market at 48 percent, and in business environments where there is no IT manager or separate IT budget, the need to ensure easy installation and operation without a server is paramount. Business Core Printing Solutions provide the essential suite of offerings to create a seamless workflow experience. By incorporating automated printing solutions that work synergistically, SMBs can manage, print and share documents with greater efficiency and agility. These SMB printing solutions must be easy to deploy and manage while being cost-efficient. Also, to prevent sensitive documents from falling into the hands of unauthorized personnel, businesses need a printing solution that provides robust security.

Business Core Printing Solutions consist of integrated document management and output management solutions compatible with Samsung’s A3 and A4 multifunction printers (MFPs) that feature the XOA Embedded open platform. Business Core Printing Solutions are available in two solution packages – the Business Core Document Management Pack, and the Business Core Output Management Pack.

Business Core Document Management Pack

The Business Core Document Management Pack contains three key solutions integrated together; SmarThru™ Workflow Lite, Cloud Connector, and Secure Login Manager for increased productivity, security, and efficiency.

SmarThru Workflow Lite is an automated document capturing, scanning and routing solution that enables users to process and distribute documents to multiple destinations. It also supports Zone Optical Character Recognition (OCR) feature that allows documents with special text and barcodes in specific sections to be automatically classified once scanned.

Cloud Connector enables documents to be scanned to and printed from the Cloud securely. There is no need for a separate server as Cloud Connector supports various Cloud services including Microsoft® SharePoint® Online and Google® Drive. For Google Drive, security is ensured through the OAuth 2.0 protocol and all Google Drive Apps Contents can also be printed.

Cloud Connector supports file formats PDF, TIFF, and JPG. Future updates to the Cloud Connector will feature connections to more Cloud services, such as Evernote, SkyDrive, Dropbox and Box.

Secure Login Manager is a security solution that provides authenticated access to the MFP. Companies can choose from numerous authentication methods including MFP internal authentication, network authentication, user ID and password input, employee ID cards and manual PIN input.

Business Core Output Management Pack

The Business Core Output Management Pack is comprised of two solutions; SecuThru™ Lite 2 and Usage Tracker, for increased security and cost efficiency.

SecuThru Lite 2 strengthens document security through user authentication. When a document is sent to the printer, it will not print until the user authenticates their credentials. Documents are encrypted for added security and are virtually queued before being printed, which can cut down needless print jobs that have been accidentally sent to print. SecuThru™ Lite 2 enables serverless pull printing among up to ten devices, and allows registration of up to 500 users to cater for the full range of SMBs.

Usage Tracker monitors an individual’s usage across all networked MFPs including printing, photocopying, scanning and faxing on the printer’s operation panel. Usage reports can also be generated and delivered via email to enable proactive resource management that could lead to lower operational costs.
