Apple Rises Base Price for Mobile Apps in China

Apple is raising the minimum price that can be charged for mobile apps when sold in China. The move marks the first price rise since Apple started offering Chinese currency transactions back in November 2011.
The minimum price for mobile apps is currently set at RMB6 -- which is equivalent to the base price of US$0.99 for mobile apps sold in the USA.
After the price rise, according to the Beijing Times, the base price will be lifted to RMB 8 per app -- or around US$1.30.
Most of the other app price levels will remain unchanged, although the equivalent of the $3.99 apps will rise from RMB25 to RMB 28 per download.
The move appears to make the mid-level app prices for Chinese consumers a better deal than their US counterparts, but significantly increases the price disparity for the lowest cost apps.
