
‘Public should learn the art of Value Investing to maximize returns’ – Nadeem Naqvi
KSE and AKD Securities hold exclusive awareness seminar
Karachi, June 24, 2013: Karachi Stock Exchange and AKD Securities Limited organized a successful investor awareness seminar as part of nationwide awareness campaign to promote capital markets amongst general public. This interactive, informative and exciting event was organized in the North Nazimabad area, where over 500 people from all walks of life which including businessmen, doctors, jewelers, teachers and other prospective investors, attended this awareness program.
Nadeem Naqvi, Managing Director, Karachi Stock Exchange highlighted investors about risks and returns of equity markets and urged them to make investment portfolios rather than parking all funds in single asset class. He said, investors should diversify their investment portfolios to reduce portfolio loss and volatility especially during uncertain times. He stressed that investors should attain basic personal finance knowledge first, and then design an investment strategy according to their financial goal and needs.
Mr. Farid Alam, CEO, AKD Securities Limited made an interactive presentation to explaining how participants how thus can be part of the corporate success stories of Pakistan by becoming shareholders in publically listed companies. Mr. Alam explained the mechanism of investing in stock market and highlighted the concept of ‘Value Investing’. He cleared people’s misperceptions about stock market, and advised them to monitor their portfolios themselves through online accounts, instead of relying on telephonic orders.
AKD Securities Limited presented a demo of their online trading platform and explained how investors can trade from anywhere, and become responsible for their investment decisions.
Mr. Sani-e-Mehmood Khan, GM, KSE said that “If you lack the time and expertise to review periodic account statements and cannot make your own investment decisions, you need to employ another professional to assist you in your personal financial planning and take care of your active and passive investment needs”. He further said that as an Investor, one cannot afford to put blind trust in an Investment Advisor or a Financial Services Company. When selecting an Advisor, an investor must know the success rate of the investment advisor, and should consider reputation, experience, past track record, compensation, and credibility of the investment advisor.
The event received overwhelming response from investors, who not only participated in the program through discussions, but also opened accounts in large numbers. Karachi Stock Exchange Awareness Program is being appreciated throughout Pakistan by people from all walks of life.
